Jim Shamburger, Pastor

“Preacher” began serving as “Senior Pastor” at First Baptist Church in June of 1987.  He and his wife Cheryl have served as the “ Pastor Family” of First Baptist Church for 22 years.  Jim grew up in Tyler and is a graduate of Baylor University (1973) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1977). Jim & Cheryl have served churches in White Deer and Van, Texas before making South Texas and Victoria their home in 1987. Jim and Cheryl have been married since 1973 and have 3 grown children, KC, Travis, & Austin. 

Jim – “Preacher” loves to hunt and fish, and enjoys snow skiing when he can get to the mountains. He loves to work in the yard and enjoys fellowship outdoors with his friends and family and especially his grandchildren, Eden, and Drew. 

Jim – “Preacher” loves the Church and it’s people and is dedicated to do all he can to reach people for Christ, and to help them grow in God’s grace!
